While traveling recently, we happened upon a few works created by the prolific American surrealist, Ernest Trova. These large-scale sculptures were crafted by the artist himself, but we adhere to similar methods of production in creating our licensed reproduction of a Trova sculpture for the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA).
Trova’s creations are crafted in stainless steel—inspired by the steel industry in his lifelong home of St. Louis. True to Trova's original artworks, we create the CFDA Fashion trophy in high-end stainless steel and polish to a gleaming, reflective surface.
Among the artworks on display at the Sponder Gallery, we viewed a 14″ tall sculpture (below in glass case, listed at $22,000) and a nearly life-sized form (pictured above).
These brilliant works of art highlight just how special it is that the CFDA is able to use Trova’s work to recognize their winners. It is a tremendous honor to craft one of Mr. Trova’s artworks into the form of a trophy. The CFDA Fashion Awards are held each year in June and recognize exceptional talent from the fashion design community.
