Which Material Should You Choose for Your Deal Toy?

Gold Line

Material changes how an object is understood before anyone reads a word on it. Crystal feels different from acrylic. Metal feels different from resin. Stone feels different from both.

Weight, temperature, reflectivity, texture, and permanence all contribute to perceived value. Taking these into account, choosing the material for a deal toy is a design and production decision.

Crystal Deal Toys

Gold Line

Crystal is one of the strongest materials for a contemporary deal toy. It has clarity, optical depth, weight, and a level of perceived value that conventional plastic simply does not possess. Crystal can be cut into sharp architectural forms or shaped into softer dimensional objects. Etching, color, embedded graphics, printing and metal components can all be used to create contrast.

Additionally, utilizing crystal is particularly effective when the desired result is clean, modern, and substantial. There is a reason Society Awards uses it extensively across high-end recognition, as crystal communicates permanence without needing ornaments.

Why We Often Recommend
Crystal Instead of Acrylic

Gold Line

Lucite is so closely associated with financial tombstones that many people use “Lucite” and “deal toy” almost interchangeably. There is nothing inherently wrong with acrylic as it remains useful for certain shapes, embedded elements, and budgets. Yet, when the objective is to create something with greater perceived value, crystal frequently produces a stronger result.

The difference becomes obvious when the object is picked up. Crystal has a weight and optical character, and edges and facets interact with light in a way plastic does not. Deal toys made with crystal feel like objects made to be kept, and that is an important distinction for a gift representing a meaningful transaction.

Metal Deal Toys

Gold Line

Metal gives a deal toy physical authority. It can be cast, machined, fabricated, polished, plated, brushed, or combined with other materials. The different processes create completely different impressions.

Where highly polished metal can feel almost jewel like, a satin finish can feel architectural. Cast metal works particularly well for sculptural or dimensional forms, whereas machined components can introduce an extraordinary degree of precision.

Society Awards’ experience creating major entertainment awards gives the Finance Group access to metalworking knowledge that extends well beyond the typical deal toy vocabulary, giving our clients an enormous advantage from working with us.

Deal Toys made with Natural Stone

Gold Line

Stone immediately introduces permanence. Marble, granite and other natural materials provide density, texture and variation that manufactured plastics cannot imitate convincingly. Stone can make an excellent base for crystal or metal but can also become the primary visual element.

The natural variation in stone deal toys can be particularly effective for transactions connected to real estate, infrastructure, mining, energy, or other businesses where materiality carries meaning. There is also something inherently appropriate about commemorating a major financial transaction with a material measured in geological time.

Deal Toys made from Wood

Gold Line

Wood brings warmth, which makes it a useful counterpoint to the cooler visual character of crystal and metal. This style can reference craftsmanship, architecture, construction, consumer brands, or natural materials, but does not need a literal narrative to work.

A beautifully finished wood component can make a contemporary deal toy feel more residential, tactile, and refined. The quality of the wood and finish matter enormously, as high-end deals are not the place for something that feels like a promotional plaque.

Resin and Advanced Dimensional Materials

Gold Line

Resin and modern additive manufacturing processes allow us to create forms that would be prohibitively difficult or expensive using traditional machining alone. This is particularly useful when recreating products, architecture, equipment, vehicles, or complex brand elements. Society Awards Finance Group can combine these components with crystal, metal, or stone, so the final object does not feel like a plastic model placed on a base and creating a deal toy that is luxurious in design and feel.

We Are Not Limited to the Deal Toy Industry’s Material Palette

Gold Line

Being a part of the Society Awards family mean our material expertise was not developed by making only financial tombstones but comes from designing and manufacturing some of the world’s most recognizable awards and custom recognition objects across entertainment, sports, corporate programs, and culture.

We routinely solve projects involving materials and processes that would be unusual for a conventional deal toy company. That changes the first design conversation from asking, “How do we make this idea work in Lucite” to “What should this object actually be made of?”

The Material Should Earn Its Place

Gold Line

The most expensive material is not automatically the best material. Nor should five luxury materials be used when two would create a more elegant object. Society Awards Finance Group designs with restraint.

A great deal toy may be one piece of beautifully proportioned crystal. It may be machined metal on stone. It may combine a highly detailed dimensional component with a severe architectural base. The material must support the idea. That is the difference between selecting from a list of manufacturing capabilities and actually designing an object.

Society Awards Finance Group does both. We know the materials. We know how they are made. And, just as importantly, we know when to stop. That is how a deal toy becomes something worth keeping.
