A revolutionary redesign of the BET Hip Hop Awards showcases the "explosive elements of hip hop."
“My whole thing is to inspire, to better people, to better myself forever in this thing that we call rap, this thing that we call hip hop” said Kendrick Lamar, winner of the Best Hip Hop Video Award at the BET Hip Hop Awards in 2022. He was also one of the first to receive the newly redesigned BET Hip Hop Award. This awards ceremony has recognized the most accomplished hip hop performers, producers, and music video directors in the industry for the past sixteen years. Society awards has had the privilege of producing the BET Hip Hop Awards for more than a decade. In 2022, BET rebranded and wanted to bring their new and modern flair into all aspects of the brand, including their awards. Our team collaborated with BET to create an award that encompassed the “explosive elements of hip hop.” The goal was to represent all facets of hip hop. The new BET Hip Hop Award possesses a fourfold design with an emerging golden microphone on a gold or black base that incorporates graffiti as a casted texture. The redesigned award pays homage to the turntable featured on the previous design by displaying it prominently on one of the four sides. The finished product is a work of art that incorporates the “explosive elements of hip hop,” and we could not be more thrilled and honored to have been a part of this revolutionary milestone for BET.
